Ray Fortune: How Mary and I began working as a team.

2007 marked 25 years of driving motorcoach for me.

Mary and I first meet in October 2001 when I took her church’s youth group on a day trip while she was chaperoning.

At that time I was operating  East Ohio Bus Lines. By early the next year she was helping me with the coach cleaning and some of the office work. Carnation Tours took over East Ohio Bus Lines in March of 2003. By the end of the year Carnation had also taken over the operations of Fine Friends Tours. Mary began escorting for Carnation just after the Fine Friends merger. I was working in Carnation’s office and rarely drove the tours she was working.

In the Summer of 2004 I found myself driving for Transit Tours. Having operated a motorcoach company for 20 years, I had the opportunity to make many friends within the industry. Along with the Bolog’s from Carnation, (Mary’s current employers) and Lorain from Sutton Tours, (Of whom I still have the pleasure of working with on occasions) I had known Kenny from Transit Tours for many years. Driving for Transit not only gave me the opportunity to drive tours, which I always preferred, but also work with Mary as my tour escort.
